Pardalito D.O.C. Vinho Verde is a popular, light white wine from the Vinho Verde DOC region in northern Portugal (specifically the Lima sub-region).
Producer
The wine is produced by Adega Cooperativa de Ponte da Barca (also known as Barcos Wines). Founded in 1963 in the town of Ponte da Barca, between the Lima and Vez rivers, the cooperative brings together around 900–1,100 family winegrowers. It focuses on sustainable production and social responsibility.
Grape varieties (main white version)
- 50% Loureiro
- 30% Arinto
- 20% Trajadura
These are classic, indigenous varieties of the Vinho Verde region.
Wine characteristics
- Colour: Attractive citrus / straw-yellow.
- Aroma: Fresh citrus fruits (lemon, lime) with delicate floral notes.
- Palate: Light, refreshing, with vibrant acidity and subtle effervescence (the characteristic light sparkle of Vinho Verde).
- Alcohol: Typically 9.5% – very low, making the wine easy-drinking and non-overpowering.
- Style: Young, fresh, everyday wine – perfect for casual consumption, especially in summer.
The vineyards grow on granite and sandy soils in a mild Atlantic climate, which gives the wine its signature freshness and minerality.
Food pairings
It pairs excellently with:
- Salads
- Light fish and seafood dishes
- Poultry
- Asian cuisine or light appetizers
Serve at 7–9°C.
Other variants of the Pardalito brand
In addition to the white, there are:
- Pardalito Rosé (made from Espadeiro, Vinhão, Borraçal)
- Frizzante (more sparkling) versions
The name “Pardalito” means “little sparrow” in Portuguese – symbolising the wine’s lightness and easy-drinking pleasure.
