Tasting Notes
Pale claret colour with brownish tones. The nose is intense and complex, showing notes of forest floor, spices, noble fungi, mature tobacco, and subtle red and blue fruits (cherry, blueberry).
On the palate it is soft, elegant and harmonious, with medium body, fine and rounded tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, silky finish. It combines delicacy with structure — often described as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” — offering more depth than its light colour and approachable style might suggest. Critics have compared its elegance to Burgundy-style reds.
Serving Suggestions
Serve at 16–18°C. Excellent with grilled or roasted fish, lightly seasoned meats, stews, and refined dishes that benefit from freshness and subtlety.
This is a classic, refined expression of Dão in a traditional Clarete style — rare, long-aged in stainless steel, and highly regarded for its balance, complexity, and originality.
