Tasting Profile
This is an elegant, mineral, and very fresh wine – typical of Arinto from Douro, where the slate soils impart a distinctive minerality.
Aromas: Mineral notes dominate, along with white flowers, beeswax, green apple, lime, and lemon. Subtle herbal accents may also appear.
Palate: Good structure, creamy texture, vibrant acidity, and enveloping minerality. The wine is juicy, well-balanced, with a long, refreshing finish. It is not light-bodied – it has real weight and depth, allowing it to evolve beautifully over time.
Ratings: Average 3.9/5 on Vivino (for the Piano brand). Praised in reviews for its elegance, minerality, and excellent balance. It often receives good scores in Portuguese wine guides (e.g., “Altamente Recomendado”).
Sugestie parowania z jedzeniem
Thanks to its high acidity, minerality, and structure, it pairs perfectly with dishes that benefit from freshness without overwhelming delicate aromas.
- Recommended by the producer: Grilled fish, seafood, white meats, and risotto.
- Best pairings:
- Fish: Grilled cod, salmon, trout, sardines, or lighter versions of bacalhau (salted cod) with potatoes and olive oil.
- Seafood: Shrimp, mussels, oysters, squid, langoustines.
- White meats: Chicken, turkey, or rabbit in citrus or herb sauces.
- Risotto: With seafood, asparagus, lemon, or mushrooms.
- Others: Salads with goat cheese, light vegetarian dishes with herbs, sushi/sashimi, or ceviche
Avoid very fatty or heavy dishes – this wine shines with fresh, seafood-oriented flavors and moderate intensity.
The wine is ready to drink now, but thanks to the natural structure of Arinto, it can age gracefully for 3–5 years, developing more complex notes of beeswax, honey, and dried fruit. No decanting is required.
This is an excellent example of a modern, high-quality white wine from Douro – mineral, crisp, and very enjoyable for everyday drinking, yet elegant enough for special occasions.
